Danpalon Kinetic: Color-Changing Facade for ISUZU HCC Chonburi

Danpalon Kinetic: A Facade Material That Redefines Architectural Perspectives

In contemporary architecture, building design is no longer focused solely on aesthetics. Today, architects aim to create engaging experiences that change with every viewing angle. As a result, the choice of facade material plays a crucial role in shaping a building's identity and visual impact.

A remarkable example is the ISUZU HCC (Huachiangchan) Bypass Chonburi project, designed by Mett Architect. Inspired by the brand's corporate identity (CI) colors—red and grey—the design reinterprets these signature colors through the use of Danpalon Kinetic Red & Grey 16 mm., a premium polycarbonate facade system from Israel. The result is a dynamic architectural facade that enhances the building's character while delivering a distinctive visual experience.

What is Danpalon Kinetic?

Danpalon Kinetic is an innovative polycarbonate system designed for facade, cladding, and roofing applications. It features advanced color technology that integrates two distinct colors within a single panel through a unique geometric triangular pattern, creating a visually dynamic architectural surface.

Its key feature is the Kinetic Effect, which allows the facade to change color depending on the viewer's perspective. Whether seen by pedestrians or motorists passing by, the building's surface gradually shifts from red to grey, creating a sense of movement and adding depth and visual interest to the architecture in a natural and dynamic way.

A Color-Changing Facade That Brings Architecture to Life

For the ISUZU HCC Bypass Chonburi project, the building's curved form was carefully designed to maximize the unique visual performance of Danpalon Kinetic.

As natural light reflects off the surface and the viewer's perspective changes, the facade continuously transitions between shades of red and grey. This dynamic color shift creates the illusion of movement, giving the building a vibrant appearance that evolves throughout the day and stands apart from conventional facade materials.

The project demonstrates how innovative materials, advanced technology, and architectural design can work together to create a modern, memorable building with a distinctive visual identity.
